Known Issues
Now Supports both Windows XP and Windows Vista
Proximity Sync
- Mark/Space Proximity Sync™ technology allows automatic syncing of contacts and calendars when your Pre is near your PC. By default, Proximity Sync is set to automatically sync every hour. For this pre-release version, It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you SET THE PROXIMITY SYNC SETTINGS TO "Never" in The Missing Sync companion app on your Pre.
To change the Proximity Sync setting:- Open Missing Sync on the Palm Pre.
- Tap the settings icon in the bottom right corner.
- Tap the "Proximity Sync" field and choose "Never (Manual)" from the popup list.
- Use the back gesture to save the change and return to the main scene.
Contacts
- At this time, support for syncing of contacts and calendar events is performed via Wi-Fi. Both the Pre and PC must be on the same Wi-Fi network, and that network must be connected to the Internet (to allow our servers to pair your Pre and PC. Personal information is not transmitted or stored).
- If you have a large number of records to sync (> 900) the device may lose connection while trying to first delete all the records, resulting in an "Unable to sync" error on the device. If this happens, dismiss the error and try to sync again.
Calendars
- This pre-release provides "overwrite sync" capability. Each time you sync we replace (overwrite) all the calendar events in the "My Computer" profile on your Pre with data from Outlook. Any edits you make to records in the "My Computer" profile will be replaced. Calendar events you have in other accounts, like Google or Facebook are not affected and will be left untouched. Click here for more information on how the Palm Pre uses profile "Accounts".
- At this time, support for syncing of contacts and calendar events is performed via Wi-Fi. Both the Pre and PC must be on the same Wi-Fi network, and that network must be connected to the Internet (to allow our servers to pair your Pre and PC. Personal information is not transmitted or stored).
- Custom recurrence patterns (for recurring calendar events) have many possibilities. Many, but not all, recurring calendar events are supported in this pre-release. We are working to improve the synchronization of repeating events. Report any specific repeating patterns that you notice don't sync correctly via the "Tell Us!" form on the product page.
- Subscribed Internet calendars do not sync to the device. These calendars are read-only calendars in Outlook.
Folder Sync
- When using the Folder Sync plugin, files stored on network attached storage (NAS) devices will only sync if the user has appropriate file permissions to read/write to that volume.
Music Sync
- This preview release allows you to sync your iTunes music library, playlists, and podcasts, as well as Windows Media Player playlists with the Pre.
Photo Sync
- This preview release includes the ability to sync photos to and from the Palm Pre.
Bookmark Plugin
- This preview release syncs Internet Explorer favorites via USB, then shows those bookmarks on the Pre device with Fliq Bookmarks (a free download from the App Catalog on the Pre).
Video Plugin
- The video plugin is included in this build, but this feature is not yet fully functional. The files are added to the install queue when you drag them to the Install tab, but the file conversion may not occur and the file may not install to the device.
Ringtone Plugin
- The list includes DRM protected files. DRM protected files cannot be played on the Pre. We intend to eventually not include DRM protected files in the list.
Sync Errors
- Some users report getting the error "Sync complete with Errors" almost immediately after pressing the Sync button. This may be due to a connection problem. We suggest you make sure your Pre and computer are both connected to the same Wi-Fi network and that network is connected to the Internet, then try to sync again (tap on the Wi-Fi bars in the status bar on the Pre, then tap Wi-Fi to check the connection).
