The Missing Sync for BlackBerry has been updated to version 1.0.1. This free update adds native French- and German-language editions, allowing speakers of those languages to more easily interact with the software.
Version 1.0.1 also introduces a Folder Sync plugin to synchronize the contents of folders between the Mac and a BlackBerry with an inserted microSD card, implements support for additional Address Book fields, properly handles all-day calendar events synced from Entourage 2004 via Sync Services and more.
To get the 1.0.1 update for The Missing Sync for BlackBerry, either select the Check for Updates command from the Missing Sync menu in the application, or download the update from the Mark/Space website (where you will also find complete release notes).
Missing Sync for Windows Mobile 3.0.2 Update
A version 3.0.2 update is available for The Missing Sync for Windows Mobile. The 3.0.2 update improves usability by no longer requiring Windows Mobile devices to be placed in "flight mode" prior to connecting to the Mac. In addition to other fixes and improvements, v3.0.2 also adds support for the Orange M3100 and HP RX 19xx series devices.
Version 3.0.2 is free update for all owners of The Missing Sync for Windows Mobile v3.0. To get the update, either select the Check for Updates command from the Missing Sync for Windows Mobile menu in the application, or download the update from the Mark/Space website (where you will also find complete release notes).
Windows Mobile 6 Device Support in Development
In February, Microsoft announced its newest operating system for mobile devices: Windows Mobile 6 (WM6). WM6 introduces several enhancements, including an updated mobile Office suite and Windows Live, which integrates email, messaging, web search and more. WM6 devices are just now starting to ship from manufacturers and wireless providers.
While the currently shipping version of The Missing Sync for Windows Mobile doesn't support WM6 devices, Mark/Space engineers have been actively working on WM6 support since soon after Microsoft's announcement. Mark/Space has strong relationships with several leading device manufacturers, who have provided a number of upcoming devices for testing, and development is progressing.
If you have a device for which a WM6 upgrade is available, you might want to hold off until The Missing Sync for Windows Mobile supports WM6. If you do update your device, the current release of The Missing Sync will not be able to establish a connection with it, and you will not be able to sync it with your Mac.
We will announce our timeline and additional details in our next (June) newsletter.
Missing Sync for Windows Mobile Wins PC Magazine Editors' Choice
We love it when Mac products get good reviews in PC Magazine, but it's even better when the product reviewed is ours! That's right, the staff at PC Magazine has awarded The Missing Sync for Windows Mobile their prestigious Editors' Choice award along with four and-a-half stars.
In the PC Magazine article The Missing Sync for Windows Mobile 3.0.1, reviewer Jamie Lendino wrote about connecting Windows Mobile devices to the Mac: “Mark/Space has your answer in The Missing Sync for Windows Mobile 3.0, and as my testing bore out, it's a winner.”
We're thrilled to be recognized by PC Magazine, and we hope that this review helps more PC users see that the Mac has more going for it than they probably suspect, and switching to the Mac won't mean giving up their Windows Mobile device. You may read the entire review on the PC Magazine website.
Mark/Space is Hiring!
If you were able to attend Macworld Expo back in January, then you probably stopped by—or at least saw—our big booth right behind Apple. 20 feet by 20 feet in size and staffed by more than ten Mark/Space employees, our booth was a far cry from previous years' 6-foot-wide station with only half the staff. What does that mean? It means that Mark/Space is growing, and we need help finding great employees to fill open positions in customer support, engineering and project management at our beautiful, downtown Los Gatos, California offices.
If you or anyone you know is passionate about synchronization, either with mobile devices or computers, and are thinking about making a job change, Mark/Space wants to hear from you. We are currently looking for customer support reps, a software engineering manager, Mac OS X software engineers, quality assurance specialists and project managers. If any of these positions sound interesting to you, or perhaps to someone you know, visit our Careers page to learn more.
