| 4. NEW DEVICES: Is new device X supported by The Missing Sync?
Palm OS: http://markspace.com/missingsync_palmos_devices.html Mark/Space puts a lot of resources into acquiring and testing new devices with The Missing Sync. For devices running the Palm OS, that's pretty easy, since only a handful of Palm OS devices are released each year. For Windows Mobile devices, however, that task becomes a bit more daunting. Not only are there tons of new Windows Mobile Pocket PC and Smartphone devices released every year, but many of them aren't available for purchase in the United States. In some cases, customers are able to get their hands on new devices before we are, especially outside the US. So what do you do when you want to get a new device, but it's not yet listed on our Supported Devices pages? You get it, of course! Seriously though, we're finding that new Windows Mobile 5 devices just work with The Missing Sync for Windows Mobile v3.0. We've designed the software that way, and this month's new Windows Mobile devices pretty much work like last month's devices. And if it's a Palm OS device, we probably know about it before it gets released.
If you try out The Missing Sync with a new device that isn't yet listed on one of our supported device lists, post us a note in

| 5. SUPPORT TIP: Connecting the Motorola Q via USB or Bluetooth http://www.markspace.com/support/kb.php?mod_id=2&id=2779 One of the most popular smartphone devices this year has undoubtedly been the Motorola Q, which runs Windows Mobile 5 for Smartphone. Unfortunately, this device has had trouble connecting via USB and Bluetooth, and not only with Macs. Several weeks ago, a software update that improves ActiveSync connections with PCs and The Missing Sync was released for these devices. Unfortunately, it requires access to a Windows PC running ActiveSync to install. You can learn more about the Q software update as well as other troubleshooting steps for getting your Q connected by checking out our Support Knowledgebase article: http://www.markspace.com/support/kb.php?mod_id=2&id=2779 |
| 6. SUPPORT TIP: Solving Palm OS conduit conflicts http://www.markspace.com/support/kb.php?mod_id=2&id=2608 The sync architecture for Palm OS devices was designed so that each device-side database will only sync with a single desktop application during a sync operation. This design has one major advantage: It protects against data corruption that could occur when multiple desktop apps try to access and write to the same handheld database. Unfortunately, this design also makes it possible for "conduit conflicts" to occur. Conduit conflicts don't cause data loss or corruption. In fact, just the opposite is true; these conflicts are a result of the protective mechanism doing its job. But such a conflict can be confusing, especially if you've never seen one before. We provide information about conduit conflicts and how to avoid or eliminate them in our Support Knowledgebase. You can learn more about conduit conflicts by reading this article: http://www.markspace.com/support/kb.php?mod_id=2&id=2608 |
| 7. NEW IN STORE: Astraware's Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars http://store.markspace.com Astraware's massive adventure game, Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars, is now available and ON SALE for Palm OS and Windows Mobile devices in the Mark/Space Online Store. Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars is an epic adventure that takes you around the globe in a desperate race to unlock the ancient mysteries of the Knights Templar. Originally created for PC and PlayStation, Broken Sword is the story of George Stobbart, an American tourist on vacation in Europe, who becomes embroiled in a terrifying conspiracy when he witnesses the theft of an ancient manuscript and the assassination of its owner. The manuscript, created in the 14th century by the order of the Knights Templar, points to where their legendary power has been hidden for over six hundred years. Befriending a photojournalist, Nico Collard, the two find themselves on a global trail that ultimately reveals a deadly secret that will change their lives forever. With amazing, cinematic graphics and many hours of play, Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars may very well be the most intricate and engrossing game available for mobile devices. (The download is over 100 MB!) It's on sale for $24.95 through the end of December, a savings more than 15% off the regular price. There are separate versions for Palm OS, Windows Mobile 2003 and Windows Mobile 5 devices, so be sure you put the right one in your cart. Don't miss this one! http://store.markspace.com |
