5. NEWS: Mark/Space Helps Handheld Developers Prepare for Intel http://www.markspace.com/developers.html Apple's upcoming switch to Intel processors is a great thing for the Mac market. However, the transition to Intel isn't necessarily an easy one for handheld software developers. Mark/Space is doing its part to help developers of handheld-oriented software move their products over to the new Mac hardware platform. At the Advanced Developers Hands On Conference (ADHOC) in July, Mark/Space engineers ran sessions for Palm OS and Windows Mobile developers on what the Intel change would mean for them. For Palm OS developers, we introduced a free framework that will ease the transition to Intel, while still maintaining support for today's Missing Sync and HotSync Manager applications. We taught Windows Mobile application developers how to take advantage of the plugin architecture in The Missing Sync for Windows Mobile. This architecture allows Pocket PC and Smartphone software developers to add Mac connectivity today that will also function when Intel-based Macs appear. If you're a handheld software developer or you have favorite handheld software products that you want to use with an Intel-based Mac, Mark/ Space has resources available to help. Developers can download the framework, white papers and code samples by visiting our developer page: http://www.markspace.com/developers.html.

7. WIN MOBILE TIP: iSync, Sync Services and Windows Mobile Devices http://www.markspace.com/support/index.php?x=&mod_id=2&id=2479 When using The Missing Sync for Windows Mobile (or the previous Pocket PC edition) with Mac OS X 10.3 "Panther", iSync is used for synchronizing Address Book and iCal data with your device. With Tiger, Apple introduced a more powerful synchronization engine, called Sync Services, that is designed to replace iSync. Developers must do some work to take advantage of Sync Services, and Mark/Space has. If you use The Missing Sync for Windows Mobile with Tiger, you will no longer use iSync. Instead, the entire interface for synchronizing is in the new Missing Sync application window. If you have not yet upgraded to Tiger, but plan to in the future, just remember that once you do, you will then use The Missing Sync for Windows Mobile, NOT iSync, to initiate a synchronization operation with your device. More information is available in the knowledgebase article linked above.

9. COOL STUFF: Documents to Go Premium Edition http://store.markspace.com/product_info.php?products_id=39 Our spotlight this month highlights DataViz's Documents to Go Premium Edition for the Mac and Palm OS. In a nutshell, Documents to Go allows you to work with Word, Excel and PowerPoint files on your Palm OS device. With version 7, DataViz added support for native format files, meaning that Office docs can now be read directly on the handheld, without first requiring conversion from Documents to Go running on a Mac or PC. How good is Documents to Go? Well, opening a 4 megabyte Excel spreadsheet in Documents to Go on a Palm OS 5 device is faster than opening the same spreadsheet in Pocket Excel on a device running Windows Mobile 2003. That's pretty amazing! If you need to work with Word, Excel and/or PowerPoint files on your handheld, then Documents to go is THE answer. $49.99 in the Mark/Space Online Store. http://store.markspace.com/product_info.php?products_id=39
