3. UPDATED: DataCord Status Report - Visor and Cisco Router Cables

Since our last issue, we are pleased to announce that the first batch of DataCord HS (for Handspring Visor) have been shipped. We have already begun our second (and much larger) production run, due to arive in mid-December.

We thank all those that have ordered, but did not get a cable out of the first batch for their patience. Sales of the DataCord HS exceeded our expectations, causing the initial batch to be sold out even before it arrived. We are now producing them in larger quantities so that in the future we should avoid any back-orders.

We have also added a new branch to the family of DataCords. As of December, the DataCord DCx-CI will be a regular production item (it was previously a special order item). DCx-CI is wired for connecting a PalmOS device to a Cisco router via RJ45 connector.

All cables are 3 feet in length, shielded, and feature high quality connectors with blackened metal thumbscrews. DataCord HS also includes the circuitry needed to make the Visor serial lines RS232 voltage level compliant.

5. NEWS: Online 1.5 Released (PalmOS)

Online v1.5 has been released!

This update includes:

  • "Hex" Terminal mode. Useful for debugging data streams. Displays 8 bytes per line in both hexadecimal and ASCII text.
  • A full blown manual in PDF format suitable for reading online or printing out.
  • "Copy Screen" menu command
  • Support for arrow keys when using an external keyboard.
  • Increased performance. Especially for TTY and HEX terminal modes.
  • Various other enhancements and bug fixes.
For a complete list of changes, see "Release Notes.doc", included with the distribution.

Version 1.5 is a free update - just use the serial number you received with version 1.2 or later (registered customers of 1.0-1.2 can request a free 1.5 serial number by sending hotsync name in a message to sales@markspace.com).

If you there are features you would like to see implemented in future versions of Online, remember to join the online-talk mailing list to participate in beta discussions and learn of new developments instantly.

The next major features being worked on for Online are the ability to log to and send DOC files (which breaks the 4K memo pad record barrier), telnet connections via TCP, and file transfer protocols (most likely XMODEM-1K and YMODEM).

6. UPDATED: Fax (PalmOS) Status Report

  • PDF Manual
Before 1.0 goes final we also will have added/finished adding:
  • The ability to RECEIVE a fax as well as send one (this feature is in the current beta, although not thoroughly tested)
  • A more complete manual
You can download the current public beta version, view screen shots and check out the product description at:

http://www.markspace.com/fax.html

Version 1.0 sells for $29.95 ($14.95 for registered owners of the previous release - contact sales@markspace.com if you qualify).

This will get you a registration code which you can start using now with the 1.0 public beta, and will continue to work for all 1.x versions.

As always, we look forward to hearing your questions, comments, and wishes for future versions of all of our PalmOS Products, including Fax!
