Mark/Space executives attended the annual CTIA Enterprise & Applications event in San Diego last month, where a number of new smartphones and devices were unveiled for the first time.

"We met with several of our manufacturing partners at CTIA," said Brian Scott Toney, Mark/Space Director of Sales and Business Development. "We are looking forward to the release of a number of exciting new phones and tablets during the next few months." 

Device Announcements at CTIA San Diego:
Several mobile companies chose CTIA to unveil their newest phones and devices. The following are just some of the announcements made at CTIA:

AT&T premiered five new Android handsets, including the Motorola Atrix 2, Samsung Captivate Glide, Pantech Pocket, among others; Motorola released the newest version of its popular RAZR smartphone; HTC announced Windows Phones HTC Titan and HTC Radar, MetroPCS debuted Kyocera Presto and the LG Beacon; plus, the HTC Sensation XL; Samsung released the Android-powered Samsung Transfix; T-Mobile premiered the new SpringBoard tablet as well as LG's Optimus Slider Those are just some of the phone and tablet unveilings at CTIA San Diego.

U.S. Cell Phone Carriers Agree to Alert Customers Before Maxing Out

Cellphone Alerts MinutesYou probably have had it happen to you at one time or another. That is, cellphone “bill shock,” the unexpected, unpleasant surprise when you open your phone bill only to find out that you had unknowingly maxed out your monthly plan minutes, or thought you had a surplus of rollover minutes, until you discovered that your rollover minutes expired sooner than you expected.

In a decision announced by the FCC and a mobile trade group on Oct. 17th, U.S. mobile carriers agreed to send alerts to customers when they are close to running out of their plan or rollover minutes. This new service will go into effect in April 2013.

New Android Device Picks for October 2011

At CTIA San Diego in mid-October, manufacturers and cellphone carriers unveiled, or announced, dozens of new phones and devices.

At the CTIA event in San Diego during October, the Motorola Atrix 2 was announced, and only days later, officially released.  Version 2.0 includes an 8 mega-pixel camera with a front-facing camera; a 1080 pixel HD video capture; 21 Mbps HSPA, and a 4.3-inch qHD 960 x 540 display. AT&T is currently offering the Atrix 2 for $99 with a two-year contract.

While Samsung had to delay the announcement of the much anticipated Galaxy Nexus, the company still created a buzz with the announcement of its new Android 2.3-powered Gingerbread Samsung Transfix.

The Transfix sports a 3.2-inch HVGA display; a slide-out keyboard; a 3.2 mega-pixel camera; and a 800MHz Qualcomm processor; plus, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS with E911. The device is selling for $179.99 with pre-paid packages via Cricket.

The brand new 7-inch T-Mobile SpringBoard tablet features a Honeycomb incarnation of the Android OS, version 3.2, with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor; a 5 mega-pixel rear-facing camera that records 720 pixel video, and sports a 1.3 mega-pixel front-facing camera; plus, a built-in TeleNav GPS Navigator. SpringBoard is set for release on November 2 for $199.
