Android OS Calendar Sync Now Available

We've updated The Missing Sync for Android adding calendar syncing features for Android phones.

Version 1.4 brings phone-to-desktop calendar syncing to Android phones. Synchronize Microsoft Outlook or Apple iCal calendars wirelessly between a Windows PC or Mac and Android phones, such as the Google Nexus One, Verizon Motorola Droid and HTC Droid Incredible.

Sync Android Calendars with PC or MacThe calendar app included on Android-powered phones syncs with Google Calendar. To sync with a Windows PC or Mac, Mark/Space had to create their own Android calendar app. Fliq Calendar is a full-featured calendaring app designed to synchronize with calendars from Outlook and iCal. Fliq Calendar works with The Missing Sync to keep calendar events updated and in sync between a phone and computer. Fliq Calendar is available free from the Android Market.

In addition to calendar syncing, The Missing Sync for Android synchronizes contacts, notes, documents and media files wirelessly between an Android phone and applications Windows PC and Mac users already use, such as Microsoft Outlook, Mac OS X Address Book, Windows Media Player and Apple iTunes. Other features in The Missing Sync include a built-in ringtone editor (to create ringtones from music), and archiving of text messages and a phone's call history.

Sync Palm Pre on the Touchstone Charger

Sync Palm Pre WirelesslyThe Palm Pre and Pixi have a very cool accessory that lets you charge the phone without having to connect a cable to it. Rest your Palm Pre on a Palm Touchstone and it charges, almost magically, without connecting the phone with wires. It's a wonderfully convenient and elegant way to charge a Pre or Pixi phone.

To sync your phone to your computer, The Missing Sync for Palm Pre offers a feature that lets your phone continue to sit, untethered, on the Touchstone charger and still sync contacts and calendars wirelessly and automatically. It's called Proximity Sync.

Mark/Space Proximity Sync technology uses a Wi-Fi network to synchronize the phone and computer. When your Windows PC or Mac senses the phone on the network, it performs a sync. It works even when a phone is in a backpack or pants pocket.

Contacts and calendars from Microsoft Outlook, Entourage or Mac OSX Address Book and Apple iCal stay in sync without you having to think about it. It's syncing without thinking - convenient and hassle-free.

Google I/O 2010

Google I/OGoogle IO, Google's huge developer event, was held May 19th and 20th. For gadget fans, the big news was the announcements of an upcoming update to Android OS (version 2.2 "FroYo") and Google TV.

Google TV
Google TV promises to offer the most flexible and rich TV viewing expereience, and more. In some undetermined time in the future, you'll be able to purchase a Google TV-enabled set-top box or Google TV-enabled TV. Then, let's say you want to watch Modern Family. You would type "Modern Family" (or the name of any other TV show or movie) into a search box. Google TV will return a listing of all upcoming and future showings on TV and other sources (like ABC's web site, Hulu, Amazon, etc.). Plus, you would see other content related to the show. For example: podcasts, related YouTube videos, fan sites, past episodes and other related information. Then, you would choose to record or play any of the content. All from the comfort of your living room couch.

FroYo - Android OS v2.2
With so many new and significant features and changes, Android 2.2 will be a welcome update for Android device users. Big on the list of additions is Flash 10.1. Flash-based games and other Flash media content will be playable on Android devices.

Google also says there will be great increases in app performance. 2.2 will also improve access to the Android Market, to make updates easier to install. And, you'll be able to install apps onto SD cards.

Another feature we're looking forward to is the ability to make and a Android device a mobile Internet hotspot, letting Wi-Fi devices use an Android device's Inernet connection.

While Google did not announce release dates for Google TV or Android OS 2.2, we're excited about the continued investment and progress Google makes in pushing and evolving Android OS and Internet technologies.
