Using PageNOW! with Telstra in Australia

http://www.telstra.com/ (Telstra Corp. Home Page)

Many of our friends in Australia have reported success using PageNOW! to send messages to GSM phones on the Telstra system using Mac, Windows and Newton versions of PageNOW!. The trick is to use the proper service phone number and password. Just create a new service, and enter the following information:

Name: Telstra (Australia)
Protocol: TAP (only need enter for Mac PageNOW! 1.6)
Number: +61-18-018-767
Password: mnmail

Then create a new subscriber and select Telstra as the service, and off you go!

Success story: Mission Critical use of PageNOW! on info.apple.com

http://support.info.apple.com/support/thegoods.html

Our friends in Austin forwarded us this URL for a behind-the-scenes look at the hardware and software Apple is using to run the info.apple.com web site. Helping keep the server administrators on top of status of each server is the combination of PageSentry from Maxum together with PageNOW!.

From http://support.info.apple.com/support/thegoods.html

Server Monitoring System:
To make sure all of our public web and FTP servers are running 24 hours a
day, we use PageSentry from Maxum Development Corporation.
PageSentry simulates a web browser or FTP client and checks each server
every few minutes. If a server does not respond, an alert detailing the
problem is sent to the alphanumeric pager of the appropriate server
administrator.

We use an Apple Workgroup Server 8150/110 as our monitoring system. In
addition to PageSentry, we use PageNOW! from Mark/Space Softworks as
our alphanumeric paging software.

Thank you,
from the team at Mark/Space!
