New Features in The Missing Sync for Windows Mobile, v4.0.2
Support for Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard
The Missing Sync for Windows Mobile version 4.0.2 is compatible with Mac OS X Leopard.

Support for Windows Mobile 6 devices
The Missing Sync for Windows Mobile now supports the latest devices running Windows Mobile 6 (WM6) and devices officially upgraded to WM6. View the supported device list.

Imports video from camera-enabled devices
The new Video plugin automates the process of getting videos taken with a Windows Mobile device onto your Mac.

  • Choose to import videos into a folder on the Mac, such as the Movies folder, or directly into an iPhoto album you've selected.
  • Choose to have videos deleted from the device following a successful import.
  • Videos can be played back on the Mac using QuickTime Player or iPhoto.

Encodes video for playback on Windows Mobile devices
The new Video plugin will also convert video content on your Mac for playback on your Windows Mobile device.

  • To encode a video, simply drag and drop a DRM-free video file onto The Missing Sync. An included helper application uses QuickTime to encode the video into the proper format and resolution for your specific device.
  • Most file types supported by QuickTime (and QuickTime add-ons, such as Flip4Mac for WMV files) can be encoded. Files must be free of any Digital Rights Management or copy protection.
  • Encoded videos are then downloaded to the device's memory expansion card during the next sync operation, where they can be viewed with Windows Media Player Mobile 10 or any other MP4-compatible player on the device.

Call log support
The new Mark/Space Call Log plugin downloads device call log data to the Mac, where it can then be manipulated using the included Call Log application for Mac OS X.

  • Call log data is read from the device during each sync operation and saved to the Mac, where it can be accessed with the included Call Log application for Mac OS X.
  • You can search, sort and even make notes on each call log entry.
  • The Call Log application integrates with Apple's Address Book to display additional information for each known contact, including contact photos and company names.
  • Toolbar buttons provide quick access to a contact's record in Address Book and an easy way to create new Address Book records from any call made or received.
  • Call log data can be exported in CSV format for use in Excel or a database application for further manipulation.

SMS text message support*
The new Mark/Space SMS Log plugin reads SMS messages from your Windows Mobile device and copies them to the Mac, where they can be accessed with the included SMS Log application for Mac OS X.

  • Messages are sorted by contact and threaded, and you can use Spotlight searching to locate particular text within a conversation.
  • Integration with Address Book provides additional information for known contacts, such as contact photo and company name.
  • The entire message log can be exported as a CSV for use with Excel or other data manipulation applications.

Other improvements
Version 4.0.1 also includes several other changes designed to improve your experience.

  • SyncMinder™ device management makes it easier to remove old devices from The Missing Sync for Windows Mobile.
  • The Windows Media Player Mobile library on WM5 and WM6 devices is now automatically updated following each run of the Music plugin.
  • Interface improvements, such as new icons and the use of sheets provide a more polished look and feel.

*SMS text messages cannot be read from Windows Mobile Palm Treo smartphones (700w/wx, 750).
